About Our APTA Chapter

The Donelson-Hermitage Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (D-H APTA)  evolved out of a group originally called “Historic Cloverbottom, Inc.”  The D-H APTA was formed in 1985; however, a list of the original members is not available.

The members performed free grounds maintenance at Cloverbottom Mansion and continuously pressed the State of Tennessee to restore the mansion.  The mansion was restored and now is the location of the Tennessee Historical Commission.

The Buchanan Log House property became available in May 13, 1992 when the MNAA sold it to the APTA for $10.00.

At the June 2009 Annual Membership meeting, the name of the chapter was changed from Donelson-Hermitage Chapter, APTA, to Buchanan Log House Chapter, APTA.

The mission of the BLH Chapter is to promote and encourage active participation in the preservation of the Donelson-Hermitage area's rich historic, cultural, architectural, and archeological heritage through restoration, education, advocacy and area wide cooperation.

Call for Vendors!

For the Fall Folk Festival this year we are adding a Log House Market Place, and we need Vendors to set up and sell their wares - anything legal & moral!  Crafts, cosmetics, jewelry, coins, military items, food products, farm-grown produce, etc. are all welcome.  Prospective vendors may telephone Kathy Blums, 615-521-9215 for information.
